Upstate Update
Upstate New York District
Church of the Nazarene
District Logo Greetings!

The stores have been announcing "It" now for weeks.  The radio and T.V. programs have been preparing us for "Its" coming for days.  The "It" is "Advent Celebration", or as we've come to call "It" - Christmas.

I find myself asking; in the midst of all the fanciful T.V. specials, the cute and often time comical fantasy shows about the "Christmas miracles", where we all get our wish.  Have we lost the message of Advent and its meaning?

The message of Advent is simple, "God so loved the World that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life."  The meaning is simple also; we do not need live as Victims or Slaves to Sin.  We can live in Peace, Joy, and Love with God, ourselves, and others.

May we let this message and its meaning grip us and transform us as it did the early Shepherds. Let us too spread its Good News Message to all.

 Merry Christmas

God is With Us,

Coach Bill and Janet

 Advent

First Sunday of Advent

December 2, 2007

Advent refers to the "coming" or "arrival" of Jesus Christ.  As you enjoy and celebrate Advent this year may the Light of the world shine brightly in your home and church.

Christmas Hush

May the quietness of Christmas,

The calm and holy hush

Of that first advent season,

Still our Christmas rush.

May our memories of the manger

Reassure us, ease the stress

Of troubled hearts in troubled times

With His peace and quietness.
