Men’s Retreat
September 19-20, 2008
Brooktondale Camp Center
Retreat Theme
What makes us men? We tend to be wired to control, and we desire to win at all cost. We have the spirit to conquer and yet have our own secret fears and weaknesses. How do these fit with the Christian call to gentleness and stuff that seems, well, not all that manly in some ways? Who was Christ as a male, and who am I? And how can I be like the Biblical David, facing giants in the land and in my life? Join us in being a Victorious Christian Man.
Speaker: Lane Verschoor
Lane was a State Trooper in Colorado for just over twenty years before taking a pastor position two years ago. He worked in the patrol division for four years and then took a position with the State Patrol Special Operations Branch in the Hazardous Material and Radiological Unit. He was an Arrest Control Field Instructor with the State for eighteen years in various police academies, teaching ground tactics, close combat firearms, knife defense and such. He holds two fifth degree black belts in Karate and Jujitsu and practices Kung Fu/Tai Chi in addition to his police training.
Lane is happily married with two children, a seventeen year old daughter and a son that attends Houghton College. They are the Pastor family of Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Sanborn.
